Before you start
You must have a quote open. If you haven't started one yet, see Building a Quote.
Open the Saw Cut tab
To get started, open your quote and click Saw Cut in the left sidebar on the Quote View screen.

Select a cutting process
- In the
Select a process to cutdropdown, select Saw.
Specify the material
These three dropdowns work together to identify the material. Fill them in order, top to bottom.
- In
Product Shape, select the shape of the material (for example, Bar, Tube, Angle, or Channel). - In
Material Type, select the material type (for example, Carbon Steel, Aluminum, or Stainless Steel). - In
Grade, select the material grade.
- In
Attribute, select the appropriate attribute for this material. This field populates dynamically based on your selections above. Options represent surface treatments and finish specifications, such as Galvanized, GR50, etc. If you don't need a product with an attribute, select None.
Enter the part details
- In
Length, enter the cut length in inches. - In
Quantity, enter the number of pieces your customer needs. - In
Part Name, give this item a name. This label appears on the quote and helps your customer identify the part. - In
Tolerance, confirm or adjust the acceptable cutting tolerance. The default is +/- 1/4". Adjust this only if your customer specified a tighter or looser tolerance. - Click ADD ITEM.
The item appears in your quote line list below the form. The form retains your selections so you can quickly add the same material in a different length.
Pro tip: Need to quote a different material type? Click CLEAR ALL FIELDS to reset the form and start fresh.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Saw Cut tab. Saw Cut requires fabrication to be enabled for your account. Contact your Stella Source customer success rep to turn it on.
The Attribute dropdown is empty or grayed out. Complete the Product Shape, Material Type, and Grade fields first. The Attribute field populates based on those selections.
I need to remove an item I already added. Find the item in your quote line list and use the delete option on that line. Saw Cut items can be removed the same way as other line item types.
